It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve re-released Professor Robert Eisenman’s classic work, The New Testament Code: The Cup of the Lord, the Damascus Covenant,and the Blood of Christ. We’ve done something a little different with this edition that we think will enhance the reading experience for everyone. Given the overall length of the book and the depth of material covered, we wanted to make sure The New Testament Code: The Cup of the Lord, the Damascus Covenant, and the Blood of Christ was as accessible as possible. In print, we’ve published the main text of The New Testament Code: The Cup of the Lord, the Damascus Covenant, and the Blood of Christ as a standalone print book. The newly edited and complete end notes, charts, maps, and photographs have been published as a separate edition called The New Testament Code Companion. The eBook editions of The New Testament Code: The Cup of the Lord, the Damascus Covenant, and the Blood of Christ contains the main text and the materials in The New Testament Code Companion.

While this combination of two separate print editions and an eBook edition is unconventional, there was a logic to this reasoning. First of all, we wanted readers to have the option of a side-by-side reading experience with the main text and the end materials. Flipping back and forth between endnotes and the main text isn’t always easy in a book this rich with materials. Secondly, we wanted to keep the cost of the main text as low as possible. Not everyone is interested in end materials, and we didn’t want to penalize those readers with a far more expensive book. So for those of you interested in the print edition of The New Testament Code: The Cup of the Lord, the Damascus Covenant, and the Blood of Christ, we have a number of options for obtaining the material in The New Testament Code companion.

In The New Testament Code: The Cup of the Lord, the Damascus Covenant, and the Blood of Christ world-renowned scholar and bestselling author Robert Eisenman uncovers the Truth and unravels the real code behind New Testament allusions like “this is the Cup of the New Covenant in my blood” and connects them to “the New Covenant in the Land of Damascus” and “drinking the Cup of the Wrath of God” in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

He covers new archaeological discoveries along the Dead Sea, AMS radiocarbon dating of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the controversial almost miraculous appearance of the “James Ossuary” (which he considers having been based on his book on James) and the reasons for its being considered a fraud. A crucial new point that emerges in The New Testament Code is the identification of the document known as the MMT as a Letter from James to someone early Church Fathers call the “Great King of the Peoples beyond the Euphrates.” Readers will not be disappointed.

The crowning point of all his arguments will be his exposition of the relationship of “the New Covenant in the Land of Damascus” in the Dead Sea Scrolls to the ritual of “the Last Supper;” and ‘the Cup’ connected to both, to be but a parody–one of the other. Did Paul know the meaning of the famous Damascus Document, discovered in the Cairo Genizah in 1897, “to set the Holy Things up according to their precise specifications”? Yesterday afternoon we received an email from the Barnes and Noble Nook team announcing that as

of 15 March 2016, they will no longer be selling digital editions in the United Kingdom. Here are the relevant portions of that email:

We are writing to announce an important change to our NOOK Service that will affect NOOK Press vendors publishing content in the United Kingdom. Effective March 15, 2016, NOOK will no longer sell digital content in the United Kingdom. The NOOK Store on NOOK devices sold in the UK, on the NOOK Reading App for Android, and at www.nook.com/gb will discontinue operations.

NOOK customers in the UK will continue to have access to purchased NOOK Books until May 31, 2016. After this date, NOOK has arranged for the award‑winning Sainsbury's Entertainment on Demand to provide access to customers' purchased NOOK Books.

There is no change to NOOK Service or NOOK Press in the United States...

We'd like to thank you for continuing to be a part of the NOOK Press community and sharing our passion for books. We will try to make the transition as smooth as possible for you and our customers who have purchased your titles in the UK.

I remember first coming in contact with Robert Eisenman's work while reading Michael Baigent's   The Dead Sea Scrolls Deception in college. Years later I got a taste of Professor Eisenman's work first hand while reading James the Brother of Jesus. Little did I know all those years ago I'd be honored enough to work with a scholar of his caliber. After publishing and/or reissuing seven of Professor Eiseman's books, Grave Distractions Publications is gearing up for number eight. We're working up Professor Eisenman's classic Islamic Law in Palestine and Israel: A History of the Survival of Tanzimat and Sharia in the British Mandate and the Jewish State for a reissue. eBooks Versus Traditional Print — Where Do You Stand?

The world has changed. Technology has come farther in the last 20 years than anyone could have ever expected. One can now find any bit of information one could dream of on the Internet. We can talk with each other in video chat from half way across the world. Letters can be mailed,  packages can be delivered at the push of a button, and even books can be printed at the exact moment customers compete a transaction. No commercial item or industry method of production has been untouched by this Technological Revolution. I even hear that even books are now being digitized...

eBooks are now widely considered the "new medium" for written works.  The files full of HTML coding convey the everything a print book does—but there is no ink, no paper, not even a cover. The words of any book are just put on a screen. Just buy your book, download it to your device, and you are good to go. No need to lug around heavy books around anymore. They are just at your fingertips. You could have your entire bookshelf in your pocket, but is the experience the same as cracking the spine, smelling the wood pulp, and putting one's eye to crackled ink on a page?

eBooks would seem like the best way to read in our digital age. With eBooks, the advantages are very easy to see—portability, cost reduction, seachability, and increased availability make the eBook option a tempting proposition. However, even with the "inefficiencies" of traditional print, this format has its own benefits. First of which, is that you actually own your book. Many readers don't realize that when you click the "Purchase" button on your preferred eBook store, you are not actually buying the book. You are buying a licence to read the book. There is also the experience aspect of reading a print edition. Some people just prefer having those tactile experiences previously mentioned of a book in one's hands. It's hard to think of  curling up with a good eReader as a good old fashioned book. Ultimately, personal preference of efficiency versus experience is the end of the argument.

The Dead Sea Scrolls and the First Christians by Robert Eisenman

Grave Distractions Publications is pleased to announce the reissue of Robert Eisenman's The Dead Sea Scrolls and the First Christians. This book provides further delineation of the relationship between the Dead Sea Scrolls and Christianity's formative years in Palestine.

Good for the Soul (A Father Columbia Murder Mystery) by James T. Baker, Ph.D.

Father Columba rides again in this follow-up to Dr. James T Baker's murder mystery Prior Knowledge! This time he is on leave from his abbey in Pennsylvania to do a retreat on the Holy Isle of Iona, just off the west coast of Scotland. It is the tiny dot in the ocean where his namesake, Saint Columba, took refuge and built an abbey over a millennium and a half ago. While there, the new Columba is called upon to solve a murder mystery and unknowingly follows in the footsteps of his predecessor, who had to solve a similar mystery in the distant but not so misty past. At the turn of this millennium, in 2001, author James Baker discovered a journal in the archives of Columba’s abbey in Pennsylvania which detailed Columba’s dithering attempt to solve a murder in a priory in Mississippi. That account is now the book Prior Knowledge. Five years later he discovered a second journal, which comprises half of Good for the Soul, in the Vatican Library in Rome. He learned the story of the first Columba from an Irish priest studying at Rome’s Angelicum Institute. Seeing the striking similarities in the two stories, he combined them for this book. The priest hinted several times that he knew about another of Columba’s journals concerning a murder in Rome, but Baker has not been able to track it down. Still another journal, the story of a murder in Korea which Columba helped solve and which he mentioned in the “Good for the Soul” journal, is missing. It is possible that Columba destroyed it because it was dangerous. Only last year Baker’s collaborator Cheryl Greer Reels found another of Columba’s journals in Nashville’s Convent of St. Mary Magdalene. This journal will eventually be published in book form. This morning I almost choked on my coffee when I read Peggy Hageman's article "Amazon Wants to Sell Used Ebooks: Everyone is Confused" on the eConetent website. I would urge you to read the article before reading on... 

This is a potentially dangerous move for Amazon to make within the indie author community. While  Grave Distractions Publications is dedicated to giving value to our customers, we're also committed to delivering high margins to our authors. Our eBooks pricing model is to discount an eBook 50% to 70% of a print edition's retail. This model fulfills both commitments listed above. To either cut an author's royalties out of the equation or diminish royalties for selling at a rock bottom price point will only benefit Amazon (and any other "resellers" out there) and reinforce the notion there is no value in digital content to consumers. 

All those associated with Grave Distractions Publications love to write to share their ideas with the world, but we also like to eat and provide for our families. Be it digital, print, audio, or any other format an author's work has value. To decrease that value will insure fewer indie authors' voices will be heard. What has happened in the last three or four years in publishing is nothing less than revolutionary and indie publishing houses/authors have challenged the corporate publishing paradigm... and won. From the earliest maps of the Gulf of Mexico by the Spanish explorers to the beginning of the 20th century, claims were made that a Welsh prince named Madoc brought thousands of colonists to North America centuries before Columbus. Though those claims were debunked, the claimants denigrated, and much of the evidence was lost or destroyed, some deliberately, the story lives on. Through shrewd and thorough investigation, this book shows that there is high probability and substantial documentation that four different countries knew the stories were true in general even if errant in details. None of those governments were or are yet willing to acknowledge the truth of such a mass immigration. This book tells why. In doing so, it also reveals some of the most appalling political intrigues in history. Prevailing and opposing political and religious doctrines are dissected and the reasons for such a huge, longstanding, and base coverup explained.

Using colonial era maps, modern computer and satellite imaging technology, historical accounts, official documents, archeological reports, and through collaboration with several other researchers the author found the sites of more than forty five ancient fortresses. In addition to the fortress sites that were known by the beginning of the 21st century, the author adds three more that were previously undocumented. The use of satellite imagery allows comparison of the strategic placement of the Ohio Valley fortresses and other ancient structures to those of the British Isles. The correlations of these sites are far greater than chance.

Also described in this text are artifacts, engraved stones, coins, arms, armor, and skeletal remains of Old World origin found in the greater Ohio, Tennessee, Chattahoochee, Virginia's New River, and Mississippi valleys. New Relase from Brian J Allan: The Barriers of Belief

Over the weekend, Grave Distractions Publications released the first of two books by paranormal and esoteric author Brian J Allan.  "The Barriers of Belief explores the hair-thin line separating supposed extraterrestrials from virtually all the supernatural creatures found in myth and legend. The difference, where it exists, is based solely upon the perceptions and beliefs of the individual and the context in which the encounter occurs. It should be made clear from the outset that while this is not a book concentrating solely on alien abductions, it does describe situations where ordinary human beings have been placed in situations where the lines separating objective reality and fantasy become permeable.

The Barriers of Belief, contains several first hand investigations conducted by the author, also suggests that the mind numbing horrors so graphically described in the works of HP Lovecraft may be founded in the multiverse that surrounds our own version of reality. While the possibility of extraterrestrial interference cannot of course be ruled out, traditional folklore is replete with accounts that, if left in their context, describe contact and interaction with trolls, bogarts, ogres, fairies, elves, the sidhe, goblins, demons and many other entities inhabiting the very fringes of perception."

GDP Inks Deal with Paranormal Author Brian J Allan

To end the week off with a bang, we've inked a deal with paranormal and esoteric author Brian J. Allan to publish a number of his books in eBook formats.  Brian has been a contributor to The Fortean Times and is the editor of the UK's Paranormal Magazine.  We're excited about having Brian as part of the Grave Distractions family and will be posting more information about his titles at the Grave Distractions Publications website early next week.

GDP to Provide eBook Conversions for Ken Hudnall

Grave Distractions Publications has entered into an agreement with author and talk show host Ken Hudnall to provide print to eBook conversions for Mr. Hudnall's catalog.  Military veteran, Captain Ken Hudnall, was an instructor in urban warfare at the United States Army Infantry School and is the author of 40 plus books, including the award winning Manhattan Conspiracy series. The first in the series was written in 1992, but was a chillingly accurate portrait of the terrorist attacks on New York City in both 1993 and 2001. He has appeared on CNN, FOX News, Coast to Coast AM and other major networks as a special consultant in urban warfare. In addition to his works of fiction, he has written extensively on the issues of unidentified flying objects and national security.  Ken also hosts a nightly talk show on the Soup Media Network that deals with the paranormal, conspiracies, and the unexplained.
